The Huntington Apartments at 10 Marine Parade, Southport, QLD, were built in 1981. The building was constructed on the site of the original Huntington residence, which was redeveloped after the Huntington Club relocated in 1980. Huntington was built on land purchased from the Cribb family of Ipswich. The house was named by Matthew Laird after his estate in Scotland. Matthew Laird died 11 June 1919 and is buried in
the Southport Cemetery.”- In December 1953 Huntington was sold to the Huntington Country Club and became the home of one of Queensland’s most exclusive gentlemen’s clubs. In 1980 the Huntington Club relocated to a new high rise building which was built on the site where this residence stood.”
